I designed this insert to hold a Canon 5D Mark II with a 24-70 f/2.8L attached, and a 10-22 in the corner. 24-70mm is a great range on a full frame camera; when I want to pack light, it’s often all I take with me. So to save weight, I made this caddy to fit it perfectly. Then I can turn any bag into a “camera bag” just by dropping in this insert.

I haven’t used a regular neck strap in years. In fact, I rarely use a strap at all. When I do use a strap (mainly when shooting a wedding and I’m using two bodies) it’s a sling strap. Most other times I shoot out of a bag so long straps just get in the way. I’ve been using a wrist strap for a while now and love it. It’s quicker to re-bag the camera yet still offers security while the camera is in your hand. (more…)
